Overview
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is looking for a Facilities Technician to join the Facilities Department. We are seeking a dependable individual to work full-time (37.5 hours/week) and year-round at the lab in East Boothbay, Maine. Bigelow offers a generous benefits package including health insurance, retirement contribution, paid time off, and professional development. You will be responsible for oversight of repairs and maintenance of all property owned and rented by Bigelow Laboratory. Performs work involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and groundskeeping. Evaluates, diagnoses, and troubleshoots facility systems and equipment as needed. The salary range for this position is $22.22-$31.33/hour.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1)    EPA Type 608 HVAC Certification or ability to achieve certification within 90 days of hire.
2)    Valid Driver's License
3)    General knowledge of boat operation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (listed in order of importance):
1)    State Licensed Journeyman Plumber
2)    State Licensed Journeyman Electrician or Marine Electrician
3)    State Licensed Propane Tech
4)    OSHA 10 or 30

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasionally ascends and descends a ladder to service the lights and ceiling fans. Operates heavy machinery. Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various event needs. The person in this position will need to respond to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
